Search QBE Pages
Did you know that the Search QBE pages have a built in memory that you can set as needed? Well it does and it can be seen when the user click the Show Advanced button. The Customer Record Search page is displayed in the example below. Clicking on the Search Results field displays three options.

|
1) After Search - save results for next access
This option saves all the selection criteria values entered by the user when the Search button is clicked. When the user comes back to the same search page, selection criteria values are still displayed and the same results retrieved the last time are also still displayed. This great feature allows the user the ability to work on a constant list of data that is the same list displayed every time. This is the default value.
When the search results are displayed, the number of records found is displayed in blue color.

If the user leaves this page and comes back at a later time, the same list of search results will be displayed. However, now the list will be “cached” from the last search.

2) After Search – save search string and retrieve new results
This option saves all the selection criteria values entered by the user when the Search button is clicked. However, when the user comes back to the same search page, selection criteria values are again searched for and the displayed list will be updated based upon any changes made within the system that match the selection criteria. This great feature allows the user the ability always work with a fresh list of data. There results will never be “cached” they will always be freshly retrieved values. |

3) Begin a blank search on next access
|
The previously entered search values will be maintained, however this option blanks out all the previously retrieved values and no search is performed. The user must click the Search button to display a list of values.

Note: Search Criteria value or the Search Result values that are cached are remember for the user whether they have logged out of the system or not. However, if the user uses the Internet Browse Tool Option – Delete Temporary Internet files, then the cached search values and results will be lost and will have to be re-setup by the user.
